    The “Agenda Theory”

    By mentor24 | July 19, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

When you think of conspiracies, do you think of a group of men sitting in heavy leather chairs in a dimly lit room deep in the heart of a vast country estate, chuckling wickedly as they sip brandy snifters as smoke slowly rises from their cigars?

I’m sure there have been many such meetings over the centuries, and no doubt they are going on today. I certainly don’t put it past men of great power to collude in private to manipulate events to their benefit, even if that manipulation leads to great harm or even death to many other people. For example, did such a meeting, or series of meetings take place among the Neocons to arrange the 9/11 atrocity? Again, I wouldn’t rule it out. There is certainly evidence to indicate that something like that happened, and many people believe so fervently.

But I’m not going there in this article. I want to discuss something much more insidious than that–the “Agenda Theory”.

The premise is this: The collusion that makes the deepest impact on humanity happens every day, in the open, (or maybe in semi-private), by countless people all over the world without any kind of coordinated plan. These people share agendas. And though each one of them has their own unique set of agendas, there is a certain amount of overlapping and intertwining of individual agendas that result in a kind of collective behavior that tends to fulfill those agendas.

Of course, the foundation of all such agendas is always the accumulation of wealth, power, and security. But within the framework of these primary objectives are the intricacies of all the sub-agendas where individuals’ interests begin to interact with each others’.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about: It’s been at least 35 years since OPEC jerked the chain around United States’s neck and made it crystal clear that they controlled the flow of our nation’s life blood. Since that time, our oil companies have not done the exploration that is supposed to justify their massive profits, our auto industry dove headfirst into SUVs, and our government has stubbornly refused to get behind any major form of alternative energy or conservation technology.

Was there a smoke-filled meeting back in the 70s where a bunch of men determined that they wanted to put our country in this position at this point in time? Are things in the process of working out just as they had planned them? I don’t think so.

I think oil executives didn’t invest in exploration because it was going to result in less short-term profit and therefore less money in their individual pockets. I think auto executives saw that they could make much thicker margins on SUVs than on compact cars and there was higher demand, so it was a no-brainer for them. They profited greatly as individuals over the last few decades. And as for the government, well, we all know how that works. Politicians respond to money and votes, and votes respond to money, so it always comes down to that.

People who circulate in common circles discuss their agendas casually over cocktails or a game of golf. They share information from the latest thought leaders. They influence each others’ ideas and opinions about ways to manage their affairs. So day by day, year after year, decision makers make decisions that benefit their personal interests. Gradually, inexorably certain classes of people shape the state of affairs in the world within their own spheres of influence.

Why is Agenda Theory so much more insidious than conspiracy theory? A group of people coordinating in secrecy on a specific plan to manipulate world events are inherently limited in its scope. Major plans that make a worldwide impact require many, many people to implement. The more people involved, the harder it is to keep the secret. If the plan really is sinister, then presumably keeping it secret is the first priority. So the need to keep their dark plots secret acts as a natural throttle on the scale of actual conspiracies.

But Agendas are different. There’s no need to keep them totally secret because it’s just business as usual. It’s just people making individual choices in their own best interests. Nothing wrong with that. It’s capitalism at work.

It just happens that the super rich people who sit on the boards of directors of major corporations have lots of common agendas. And those agendas often run counter to the agendas of the great masses of people who are in a different class.

For example, while the vast majority of people might want the pharmaceutical company Pfizer to come out with an affordable drug to treat alzheimers, the few people who own significant shares of Pfizer stock would rather see it generate more profits. Those people are interested in warding off generic competition to Lipitor while the common folk are trying to figure out how to get meds more cheaply from Canada. No smoke-filled rooms–just people pursuing their own agendas.

Oh, and before we get too judgmental about those super-rich people benefiting themselves to the detriment of society as a whole, let’s take a look at ourselves. How about the huge mortgage meltdown debacle? Who fueled that? Sure, there were a lot of unscrupulous mortgage lenders and real estate companies driving that along. But all those families who were willing to pay whatever the seller asked without even trying to negotiate and who took out exotic loans that they clearly couldn’t afford because they were convinced that real estate could only go up and could never go down–well, they all collectively caused the crisis. Whether people have huge power or just a little, they are driven by their own agendas. In order to enhance their own little world, they will sacrifice the world at large. Typically it’s not a fully conscious decision–they just aren’t looking beyond their own limited field of vision.

So while conspiracies large and small may be taking place as we speak, they are the tip of the iceberg compared to the vast Agenda Conspiracies profoundly shaping the future of our world. They can’t be identified because they are ubiquitous. They can’t be stopped because they are ingrained in human nature. And they are leading inexorably toward The End of Civilization As We Know It.

    McDonald’s Changed Their Peanuts!!

    By mentor24 | June 18, 2008

Have you noticed that McDonald’s has changed their peanut supplier?  No?  Well, I did.  And the fact that I did and you didn’t is proof that we are nearing the end of civilization.  Oh, you don’t think I can support that statement with logical arguments?  Well hear me out.

This little anecdote illustrates two core reasons why humanity is headed inexorably toward our fall.

    1. The Fudge Factor

Hi.  My name is Dane, and I’m a fudgaholic.   It’s been just a few hours since my last McDonald’s hot fudge Sundae.  I want to hold out, but seems like I end up having about three or so hot fudge sundaes a week.  I always ask for two peanut packs cause one just doesn’t quite make it, and the indifferent employees always say “sure”.   So this evening when I tore open my peanut pack I noticed it was a completely different package.

Well, the peanuts aren’t really the point.  The point is that I’m kinda hooked on those sundaes.  I know as far as vices go this isn’t one of the most reprehensible.  Still, they aren’t good for me, and those $1 bills do add up.  The $100 I’ll spend in a year just on hot fudge sundaes could probably support a whole family in Congo for a month.   If I donated that $100 and just gave up the sundaes I’d feel better about myself, lose a little weight, and make a positive difference in somebody’s life.  But I don’t think it’s gonna happen.  Cause like I said, I’m kinda hooked on them.

Oh, so now your judging me?  OK.  What are you hooked on?  Cigarettes?  Pizza?  Shopping for shoes?  The latest tech gizmos?  Cruisin’ around in your tricked out four-wheel drive?  None of those?  Well, I know there’s something.  In the industrialized world, almost everybody is hooked on something.   And even though we know it would probably be better for everyone concerned if we gave it up, we just can’t seem to do it.  After all, it really isn’t that bad of a vice, and how much of a difference would it really make if we quit anyway?  It’s so easy to rationalize giving in to temptation.

Now I’m not saying that a few hot fudge sundaes and closets full of shoes are going to bring civilization to its knees.  Some addictions have a greater impact than others.  The point is that human nature dictates that we will find a way to rationalize the destructive behaviors that give us some kind of temporary satisfaction but cause long-term damage.  We may logically know it isn’t smart, but we’re gonna do it anyway.  Cause we gots to have our goodies.

So as a civilization we’re just gonna keep on burning oil, burning rain forests, burning garbage, and burning money that we don’t actually have.  Who’s gonna stop it?  You?  Me?  Hey, all I’m doing is eating a few extra hot fudge sundaes!

    2. Age of Entropy

Which brings me to the second point.  You had no idea that McDonalds changed their peanut supplier (right?) because that’s just not your thing.  Doesn’t even register in your consciousness.  (Truth is, it’s not a big deal to me either–it’s just to illustrate the point).  But if the style in shoes changed from wide heels to narrow heels, you might be keenly aware of that.  Not me.  And neither of us would have a clue that a hot new black metal band had just hit the scene.  We all have our own thing, or really collection of things, these days.  And it’s getting harder and harder to keep up with what other people are into.

Civilization is going to a state of entropy.   The individuals that make up society are spinning off in different directions.  We have less and less in common with each other every day.

So I don’t really fear your judgment about my hot fudge obsession.  You don’t know me and you don’t know what it’s like to crave those damn sundaes.  Gay folks are less likely to be concerned about the judgments of uptight conservatives than in past times.  Smokers just go off to smoke with their smoker buddies.  And don’t get me started on those clowns in their ten foot tall monster trucks.  They don’t give a rip what anybody thinks.

Part of the glue that binds societies together are the agreed upon sins and taboos that we at least try to appear to avoid.  But these days there are fewer and fewer behaviors that draw universal criticism.  From NAMBLA to skinheads to monster truck fan clubs, there is a community of people ready to encourage whatever activity you want to engage in.  (My hot fudge fetish ain’t sounding so bad about now, huh?)

And here’s the deal.  It’s inevitable.  It’s natural!  Entropy is the way of Things.  And by Things, I mean everything in the natural universe.  Things spring to life from nothing–miraculously.  They grow.  They get strong.  They mature.  They age.  They start to fall apart.  And eventually they die and disintegrate.  You name one thing that doesn’t follow this pattern for me and I’ll take back this whole article.  But you can’t.  It happens to everything, including civilizations.

You just have to ask yourself: at what point in that arc is our civilization?  Are we at a place where things are coming together, building up, growing stronger?  Or are we on the downhill slide?  And if the latter, just how far down do you think we’ve gone and how much farther are we going to go?

Well, I really don’t know the answer to those questions.  Could be it’s not as bad as it seems to me.  It’s a pretty abstract concept.  So I don’t plan to give up my hot fudge sundaes on account of it.  I’m going to enjoy them while I can.

    Life After Death Stories

    By mentor24 | June 9, 2008

It’s not the end of the world!  Well, OK, it is the end of the world, but it’s not the end!  Here’s an amazing collection of life after life stories to give you hope in the face of our impending fate.

This one is really intense. From a strong Christian perspective.

A news story featuring three different people, each with a different perspective, and none talk about Christianity. But they are each profoundly affected.

Three more stories, including one woman with no preconceptions of life after death, a materialistic businessman, and a blind woman who was able to see.

A scientific woman who doesn’t seem to come from a Christian point of view.

She talks about her struggle to understand what actually happened.

This guy had two NDEs, one that was very negative and one that was very positive.

Are you ready to “Get Chipped”?

    By mentor24 | June 9, 2008

If you’re not aware of the VeriChip, then you need to settle in and read this article. And if by the time you’re finished reading you aren’t getting pretty clear on the nature of the Beast, well, then good luck to you.

I won’t go into great detail in describing the VeriChip in this article. All you need to do is read to information in Wikipedia to get the basic information. Just reading that should make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. But in short, this tiny, grain-sized device can be implanted in your body so that your key information can be easily scanned. Many people consider this to be the obvious mark of the Beast.

    Spychips

Katherine Albrecht. Plume 2006, Paperback, 304 pages, $15.00

Given how many people see such an obvious connection, it’s interesting that VeriChip Corporation doesn’t even really try to address people’s concerns. You’ll see no acknowledgment of these this issue on their corporate FAQ, for example. In fact, they seem to exacerbate things by choosing product names like Xmark!

Of course, the company cloaks its motivations in a noble light–helping to improve health care, protect infants and the elderly, and disaster management. But let’s be realistic here. Like any corporation, VeriChip has one overriding motivation–to sell as many chips as possible. A Wired article from way back in 2002 announced their marketing campaign to boost business through the tagline “Get Chipped”. Of course they can’t be too aggressive about it. They are taking a more oblique approach.

Today the marketing pitch is to implant them into babies, people with health problems, and elders who suffer from dementia. But you can be sure that they are interested in “penetrating” new markets. How about criminals? Immigrants? Military personnel? Heck, why not all government employees? And why stop at babies? Surely your 10 year old child is just as precious? It’s easy to see the rationale for implantation in each of these groups–which represent millions of people.

And I haven’t even gotten to security yet. Once millions of people are chipped, and not only hasn’t the world come to an end but the corporation actually has many heartwarming stories of saved lives to trumpet, it isn’t hard to imagine a major campaign to mandate implantation for the sake of national security. Just one more major terrorist attack within our borders could push the tide in favor of such an action.

Of course there will be those who refuse. There are many organizations such as AntiChips and We the People will not be Chipped representing probably millions who will resist the movement at all costs. But there are many more powerful and influential people and organizations within government and the media that will push for it.

    Fox News promotes the VeriChip.

Former Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson pushes for it.

How many will go with the authorities and prevailing “wisdom” who say it is necessary and how many will flatly refuse, I couldn’t say. And just when this scenario could come to a head is difficult to say to. If a law was passed tomorrow, I expect it would meet with great resistance. But in five years? Ten years? Who knows?

    Black Gold

    By mentor24 | June 4, 2008

So how about the price of gas lately, huh? Feeling it? Yeah, me too. And like me, you probably have the same question: Why?

What has caused the price of gas to skyrocket over the last couple years, and especially over the last few months? I’ve been reading up on it a bit, and I have a theory.

We’ve heard the Saudis and the big oil executives blame much of the price spike primarily on speculation on the futures market, and though I’m not inclined to trust either of those two groups, I think they’re right.

Massachusetts Historical Gas Price Charts Provided by GasBuddy.com

In fact, that seems to be pretty much the consensus. Estimates vary. Some say speculation accounts for 25% of the price. Others think it is much higher. In a CNNMoney article, Michael Greenburger, a former official of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission said “We’re paying, some believe, as high as a 50% premium to the pockets of speculators that are operating in markets that are completely unpoliced. At least 70% of the US crude oil market is driven by speculators and not people with commercial interests.”

Outrageous! That means for every gallon of gas we all buy, we’re paying about a buck to a bunch of slick traders who are gambling that gas is gonna just keep going up. So they buy a bunch now, planning to sell it later after the price rises. And it is their own speculation that is making the price go up! So is this market speculation? Or market manipulation?

I don’t know. But I do believe that the people who are doing this trading exhibit sociopathic tendencies. They’re only interested in their own personal gain regardless of the pain inflicted on countless others. They’re they same type of people who worked as traders for Enron and whose voices were recorded on the riveting documentary “The Smartest Guys in the Room”. And just like in that messed up situation, this type of trading is pretty much unregulated. You need to read the article I mentioned above.

I really hope that this bubble somehow pops and many of these traders get soaked in their own oil. But according to the CNN article, George Soros, (who knows a thing or two about trading and speculation), thinks that the bubble may not burst until the economy sinks into full-blown recession. Then demand will drop because everyone’s trucks have been repossessed.

So is oil speculation going to cause the downfall of western civilization? Not by itself. It’s just another straw on the camel’s back. The really ominous part of this for me is the fact that there are people in the world who, with full understanding of what they are doing, are willing to cause great harm to everyone else just for cash and power. They’re smart. Their ruthless. And they control our world.
